nutella and hazelnut....

i should be able to start writing pretty regularly on here now that i have access to the school computer lab. today has been amazing so far. we woke up, got the tram to school and then went walking around the city. my friend danielle, who was here all of last semester took us to the spanish steps, the pantheon (breathtaking), and the borgese gardens, where there was a veiw of most of rome. it was so cool. we also stopped for gelato and i officially have a new favorite- nutella and hazelnut.

last night i had an adventure. it wasn't fun though. my plan was to go back to the apartment and then later go over to my friends house near termini. i was by myself and ended up getting really lost. we havent gotten our cell phones yet and many people don't speak english. two long tram rides, one bus ride, 20 minutes of walking, 5 "conversations", and about 2 and half hours later, i arrived at my friends house. im hoping that eventually i will learn how to navigate myself better here.

i have a mailing address at the school. it is probably more secure than my apartment address. please feel free to send a letter or whatever. if you want to send me a package or something it should be small or not valuable, otherwise i will get charged a lot of money to recieve it. please be careful about it. they said that they can charge up to 100 euro if they think it is valuable.

Hey Cori, I tried to blog you last Sun or so but because I didn't have an account, I couldn't. And then I couldn't sign up because of some "work" they were doing to the sign-up site! Uggghhhh. Anyway, Gabbie was playing with "leap" last night and your message came up and Gabbie said "Cori!!!! I LOVE YOU!!, she said it a couple of times. So she hasn't forgotten you and of course she misses you.
I'm glad your adapting well. I still wish I would've "stowed away" with you. I'm going to check into coming over- you know.... for Gabbie's mental safety so she can see for herself that you are okay! (hee hee). Anyway, stay safe and I'll get some pics together and mail to you soon okay?
Lots of Luv to you!

wow, that is kinda scary...getting lost in a strange city. I'm sure you'll soon know your way around, and that God will protect you.

and that's cool that b/c you didn't go last semester too, there are people there already to show you around.

Hi, Cori. I'll be checking this blog often to see how you are doing.
I love Nutella. It is the Italian peanut butter (and actually low fat). It is made from cocoa powder, hazelnuts, and skim milk according to my favorite Food Network chef...Giada DeLaurentiis of Everyday Italian.
Stay safe and ENJOY yourself. This is a great opportunity for you.

Dear Beloveded One,

I'm glad your 'getting lost' ended on a safe note. Didn't I tell you to not go anywhere by yourself? Of course you could still have gotten lost, but remeber mothers know best! (smile)

I think you already know this, but the 'mom' in me wants to explain it. (pat gerlach) would be the sister of Uncle Larry, and my Cousin Cyndi, with the two girls Heather and Danille. (I can hear you know saying 'I know, Mom.'

I'm really glad your enjoying your stay. Keep praying about the possibility of us coming to see you. Pop has left a ray of hope alive. Love Ya.

um, I just tried to post a comment, but I don't think it showed up....huh..I wonder what happened?? ahh...that's annoying...oh well. I was just saying that I miss you so much and it was really special to get your phone call the other day! I appreciated that so much! It was so good to hear your voice too! I'm saving the message so that I can hear your voice anytime I want! :-) lol I love nutella too! although I haven't ever tried a gelato in that flavor, I love the spread, for like crepes or whatever. :-) this week, and next week nate and I are house sitting for his parents, so I'll be right near a computer alot, and will post lots of commetns for you! ...they'll probably be long...sorry, but you did say I could do that! :-) I'm glad to hear that your 2 hour excusion of being lost, had a happy ending and that you are still alive and well! :-) I had a similar experience with melissa, in Paris. But after it was over, I was amazed to look back and realize how God protected us and guided us thru. I love you Corpussel...and I'm going to write you a shabby-looking letter, so you can enjoy being thought of, without having to pay an arm and a leg to get it! k well, alvedersain!! lol (I don't know how to spell that) ~Dar

Hey Corpa!
Your new flavor sounds great! Dar hooked us onto nutella after she came back from France. It seems like the experiences, like getting lost, that touch our emotions intensely today, end up being some of our clearest memories in years to come. Keep in mind that God is beside us all the time. Thanks for the snail mail address! love and Prayers! A.J.
