today was the first day of orientation. it will continue for the rest of this week and classes will start on monday. the school is nice. its very small, but i like it. i will hopefully be taking : italian, northern renaissance art history, printmaking, and advanced sculpture. the overwhelming feeling of this amazing city is starting to fade a little and i am feeling more comfortable.
me and my roommate rebekah want to go to the local bar (cafe) everyday and get a cappachino (90 cents) so that we will become regulars and make friends with the old couple that run it. they are so cute.
i am still having trouble getting my pictures up, but hopefully i will be able to post some soon. pictures are so much more exciting.
it has been nice to be in a place that doesn't feel comfortable and be forced to rely on God for that. there are times during the day when i just need to just go in room read my bible and pray. and there is so much comfort in that. a few people encouraged me to read the book of romans while here. so i have been doing that in my devotions.
i wasn't able to go to church last week because we already had other plans, and this week we have a "field trip" to Todi. But the next sunday i will start going to a church that a few of friends have been going to. i dont know anything about it really, but i will write more about it after actually get there.
so on sunday all of the new students are going on this trip to Todi. it sounds like it will be really fun. we drive for a few hours and then hike up part of a mountian?? and then when we get to the top they give us a 13 course dinner. yeeeeahahhhh.
the past week ive had free time which i use to play dutch blitz (thanks for the cards mom!!), and drink wine and read. its been really relaxing and really fun.
everyday we go to the market and get the food we will need for dinner that night. everything is so much fresher here. im learing how to cook!!
we ride the bus or metro almost everyday and do lots of walking. people tend to stare at us americans. we kinda stand out.
man, i could write forever about all the things that have been happening but this is already really long. i probably wouldn't have read all this if i was you.

Corpa,
What a great idea!... becoming regulars at the local bar! Merenda Zugs has given you the experience of knowing how quickly that familiarity will happen. Your classes sound VERY interesting! I'll buy the first sculpture you want to sell! It will be my first piece of Italian art! I've been praying for you everyday. Love ya like my own! A.J. (Aunt Joanne)
We'll be anxious to taste your culinary european cuisean when you get home. I'll be anxious to learn a few things. I bet you can get really good olive oil. What are some of the new foods that your trying, that you like the best? Love ya!
Cor!! Hey! I've been wanting to post a comment on your blog for the past couple of days, but haven't been able to get to a computer till now! It was soooo fun reading about how the past week has been for you! And all that you're experiencing! I am proud of you, learning to cook--what a fun place to start--in another counrty where the food is going to be sooooooooooooo good! I hope you have a blast tomorrow when you go to Todi! That sounds awesome...I'm sure you'll get some amazing pics from that excursion! I love you a million, billion gazillion! Have fun getting to know the "cute old couple" that own the cafe! :-) I went to Zug's yesterday with Melissa, and I thought of you...we had lots of fun, but it was really weird to go there, not to visit you... :-( sniff, sniff. How's the wine, by the way?! Well, I am thrilled to hear you are having such an incredible time, so far! I knew you would, once you got over there! You're in my thoughts a lot... hugs, Dar
